Hugh Syme was approached by the New Trail Magazine from the University of Alberta to depict a silent topic; dementia. Dementia isn’t discussed often enough but should be since it affects 225,000 people every year. Hugh’s illustrations capture the reality of living with dementia through dim lighting which is consistent through out the dramatic series. The images sensitively represent the blurry separation between fantasy, memories, and reality.

You may recognize our illustrator Hugh Syme from his extensive 44 year career creating album covers for the band Rush. Now, decades later, Hugh is exhibiting his iconic album artwork in galleries for the first time. His first exhibition was recently held at Renditions Fine Art Gallery in Indianapolis, Indiana. During the exhibition, Hugh also held a book signing event for his 272 page coffee table book Art of Rush. Beloved fans rushed (no pun intended) from around the state and beyond to meet Hugh and get his autograph.
