Orlando Arocena’s Workbook 2022 Cover

The latest Workbook illustration print edition has arrived on the desks of art buyers, and it is an honor to share that the front and back covers feature futuristic cyborg illustrations from renowned vector illustrator, Orlando Arocena!

Orlando comments that it is “an amazing feeling to be “The Illustrator” on the front and back covers of The Workbook!”

“After over 25 years in the business, having experience as an Agency Design Director for a number of global brands and ad agencies, the Workbook has always been a vital part of any Creative Director’s sourced arsenal. I remember being wowed each year by the incredible talent that would adorn the covers, always hoping that one day my vector art would rise to such a level. Many years later, I can’t believe that this year it’s my vector art on the covers of the Workbook!!! It’s a dream come true, and I am incredibly grateful for this recognition!”

The front cover image is a 3-time Clio Award winner, commissioned by Lionsgate for the anniversary steelcase of the Anime Classic, Ghost in the Shell. Bursting with colorful gradients, the illustration focuses on the main character Major Motoko Kusanagi and her mechanical build, which is now iconic within anime/sci-fi pop culture.

On the back is another Lionsgate commission, for the Terminator 2: Judgement Day deluxe steelcase from 2021. Also nominated for a Clio award, the piece depicts the T-800 character as a guardian in the foreground, while also showing an army of Terminators coursing through the futuristic wasteland.
