Last year, Laura Barrett was approached by Hachette Children’s group to illustrate the ultimate gift edition of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale, “The Snow Queen” with intricate silhouette artwork and a pop-up-and-play theatre finale. Unfold the concertina pages to follow Gerda’s epic journey to the palace of the Snow Queen to rescue her best friend Kai, bewitched by a splinter of ice from an enchanted mirror. Reveal a beautiful pop-up palace on the final page and interact using the stand-up play figures. Discover enchanting silhouette artwork from artist Laura Barrett alongside a simple, evocative retelling of this famous tale.

Laura Barrett illustrated the cover and interior illustrations for Return to Wonderland, a new collection of stories inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland published by Macmillan. She created this brilliant cover under the art direction of Tracey Ridgewell and Rachel Vale. The anthology features 11 fantastic children’s authors; Peter Bunzl, Pamela Butchart, Maz Evans, Swapna Haddow, Patrice Lawrence, Chris Smith, Lauren St John, Robin Stevens, Lisa Thompson, Piers Torday and Amy Wilson.
